Project Update: Toronto Corporate Office

As we fill the final remaining walls of our corporate collection in Downtown Toronto, we're excited to share three new installation highlights by Adam David Brown, James Carl, and Nicolas Baier.

We are in the final stages of curating the new collection, which comprises over 35 artworks by 27 artists. With the installation nearly complete, we are looking forward to photographing the collection and organizing group tours this fall.

Adam David Brown's commission Two-Thousand Pennies Covered in 22K Gold relates to one of the collection's central themes - art that is inspired by patterns and imagery found in nature. Eye catching from far away and up close, it was the perfect piece for the reception. The work is installed in conversation with Brenda Draney's dynamic painting of fireworks, "Midnight Sun," for an uplifting entrance into the office space.

James Carl's Venetian Blind sculpture integrated seamlessly with the iNSTUDIO-designed sculpture platform, which is visible from reception and the office lounge. As long-time followers of Carl's work, we were excited by how his woven industrial sculpture fit with the curation of the entryway - bringing together works by contemporary artists using non-traditional materials to rethink traditional practices.

Connectifs 2D by Nicolas Baier hangs in the stairwell of the top floor offices, facing the Trading Desks. In this work, networks that appear natural and man-made intertwine in reference to the many networks that shape our daily lives - technical infrastructure, communications, tree root systems, solar systems. The gilded, layered, and striking print relates to the networks that unify the company’s business functions. In the lobby of the building, Baier created a monumental engraved marble wall - a site-specific major installation inspired by this work.

We can’t wait to share more reveals of this project - stay tuned!
