Highlights From Our Favorite News Articles

Every Monday morning, our team shares art news, and this week’s highlights were especially great. So, we’re sharing them with you.

Auction News: The anticipated London evening sales were not as successful as expected, but work by emerging artist Angela Heisch, who we’ve been following, went for £76,200 at Phillips. We’ve sold Heisch’s work within the past 5 years, all for under the $10k mark, so seeing it auctioned off and achieve this hammer price is notable.

For Women’s History Month: Christie’s is highlighting a few key women who helped recover art stolen by the Nazis.  Repatriation and art rescues have been a hot news topic for years, but this one shares some incredible details that are especially important to celebrate this month.

Animal Lovers: Van Gogh the dog, who lost his ear when he was illegally used for dog fighting, helped raise $10,000 for an animal rescue benefit auction for Happily Furever After. The pictures will make your day.

Architecture Fans: A lesser known Frank Lloyd Wright private home just sold in California for $22 million. The story of the woman who convinced Wright to design her home, and the images of this place, are worth a click.

Music Fans: The Victoria & Albert Museum just acquired the entire set of David Bowie’s archives, which includes 80,000 items such as costumes, letters, sketchbooks, instruments… the list goes on.
